![]() ![]() ![]() The Sims series is perhaps one of the few games that are directly marketed at the female demographic. I haven’t seen her for the better part of a year and our only form of communication now is liking each other’s photos on Facebook and Instagram. This, and a game called Harvest Moon where you control a farmer who does chores and romance girls, were the only channels we could bond in. ![]() We’d form a story for the Sims together, she’d give advice and sometimes helped me play if I went the bathroom. I never knew why she would spend hours and hours of her day simply watching me play. I played this game with my sister and I have a lot of fond memories with her watching me control my Sim and hers. I stopped killing my ‘main’, or primary character (I control one character at a time I’m lazy), and started killing other neighbours. Gradually, however, I started falling in love with my character and saw him as a virtual representation of myself. I was a child then and a life simulation where you got to torture and kill virtual people with real virtual feelings and emotions appealed to me (I was a pretty sick kid). It was a game where life was simulated through avatars called ‘Sims’ who’s looks, personality, character, lifetime wants and fears can be customised. I was addicted as soon as the first game of the first expansion was out for the first time. I am an avid fan of EA’s the Sims series. ![]()
